Brief History
The Endwell Scheme in a bid to strengthen the economic status of teachers facilitated the establishment and registration of 25 Local Government Teachers Multi-purpose Cooperative Societies in the year 2010. It is worthy of note that theses societies are the promoters of the NUT Endwell Microfinance Bank Itd.
NIGER_STATE TEACHERS ENDWELL MULTIPURPOSE COOPERATIVE UNION (NSTEMCU)
The 25 Local Government Teachers Endwell Multipurpose Cooperative Societies, the NUT Staff Cooperative Society and other primary society in the year 2015 established the Niger State Teachers Endwell Multipurpose Cooperative Union (NSTEMCU). The NSTEMCU was registered on 19th November, 2015 under the Niger State cooperative societies Laws CAP 30 of 1989 as amended in 2014.OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE
The objective of the Cooperative Union among others is to help improve quality internal management of its members, provide advice and strengthening the unity among its members, foster and promote the growth and development of s members towards enhancing their socio-economic status, to cooperate and collaborate with all the cooperative organisations within and outside Nigeria towards the furtherance of its goal.MEMBERSHIP
The membership of the union are primary societies in the state in the Educational and non-educational sectors in the state. The membership of the Niger State Teachers Endwell Multipurpose Cooperative Union currently stand at Twenty-Six (26) which consist of 25 Local Government based Teachers Endwell societies, Elkareem Staff Multipurpose cooperative society and NUT Niger State Staff cooperative society.GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE
The governance structure of NSTEMCU comprises the following:a. General Meeting
b. Management Committee (Board of Directors).
c.Sub-committees
d. Secretariat.
The General Secretary is the Chief Executive Officer of the NSTEMCU and serve as the head of the secretariat that is responsible for the day to day operations of the Union
